Founded in 1985, Autonik is a key provider of information management systems for clinical microbiology laboratories in Sweden and Denmark. The company’s customers include leading Swedish and Danish clinical laboratories, such as the Karolinska University Laboratory in the Stockholm region and the Region Hovedstaden laboratory in the Copenhagen region region.

Mylab is the market leader in healthcare laboratory information management systems in Finland. The acquisition of Autonik takes us a significant step closer to our goals in the Nordic laboratory information systems market and supports our expansion into the field of clinical microbiological diagnostics, which has become more important as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic. Both Mylab and Autonik have long traditions of working closely with leading national clinical laboratories and of building strong and trusting relationships with customers and partners. I absolutely believe that by joining forces we will be able to serve our customers better in Sweden, Denmark and Finland alike and that the arrangement will give us an opportunity to take our Nordic partnerships to completely new levels, says Mylab’s CEO Samuli Niiranen

Acquiring Autonik is a natural step for Mylab and in line with the industry trend of merging and pooling resources between specialised laboratories, which need integrated information management systems capable of supporting a range of specialisations. One example of such a solution is Mylab’s My+ information system, which thanks to the acquisition can now be offered to Swedish and Danish clinical laboratories as well. Autonik will also continue to support and offer wwLab, MiBa and other Autonik products to their customers.

Autonik has been delivering information systems to Swedish and Danish clinical microbiology laboratories for a long time. As part of Mylab, we will be able to provide a wider range of services to our customers and build even stronger relationships with them. We also believe that Autonik’s long and extensive experience in microbiology in Sweden and Denmark, combined with Mylab’s substantial experience in laboratory technology and diagnostics in general, creates new and exciting opportunities in the increasingly concentrated clinical laboratory information management system market, says Autonik’s Managing Director Mathias Oldenburg.

Autonik is joining the Mylab Group as a subsidiary, and its four partners and six employees retain their positions in the company.
